Role and responsibilities

The Public Works Foreman plans, organizes, directs and controls the maintenance and repair of highways and water supply systems.

Main tasks:

• Plans, organizes, directs and controls his department and evaluates its performance

• Executes and supervises the various construction and maintenance operations

• Ensures the maintenance of sewer systems, water supply systems, ditches, pavement, signaling, municipal buildings, lighting, snow removal and leisure infrastructures

• Inspects work sites to ensure that directives are respected

• Plans sidewalk and pavement repair, and specifies the human resources and material needed to get the job done

• Promotes health and safety measures

• Updates registries, files and other pertinent documents

• Participates in reunions that deal with the Public Works division

• Ensures the flexibility of the Public Works service in the municipality by tending to emergency calls out of regular work hours 418.689.9179

• Updates the equipment inventory and prepares the call for tender specifications when necessary

• Ensures the maintenance of municipal equipment in order to remain efficient
